The Exo4Edu project held a successful French-language webinar on October 1st, presenting its educational approach and classroom resources designed to bring exoplanet science to schools across Europe. The event, organised as part of the project’s European outreach actions, gathered a large community of teachers and trainers. The replay is now available on YouTube, and further information about the project can be found on the Exo4Edu website.
A strong and diverse audience
The webinar brought together 122 registered participants from a wide spectrum of teaching contexts:
- 94% secondary and 6% primary, including a small share of higher education among the secondary group.
- Subject breakdown: 60% Physics–Chemistry, 15% Mathematics, 10% Biology/Earth Science, 2% Technology, 3% Primary, and 27% “Other”, a category that includes engineers, mediators, and colleagues from universities and cultural institutions.
- Professional roles: 86 teachers, 13 teacher trainers, 2 school heads, 1 inspector, and several mediators and engineers.
- Participants from all French academic regions, with about one-third from the Paris–Créteil–Versailles area and notable groups from Aix–Marseille, Martinique, and Nancy–Metz.
- Eight international participants also joined the session, including colleagues from the AEFE network as well as Spain, Portugal, Brasov, Bratislava, and the Maghreb region.
Sharing tools, activities and opportunities
During the session, the Exo4Edu team introduced educational materials, classroom activities and upcoming pilot opportunities for schools. A dynamic Q&A session allowed participants to exchange practices, resources and ideas for teaching astronomy and exoplanets.
The Exo4Edu team thanks all attendees for their active participation and enthusiasm. More events and teacher opportunities will be announced soon.
